    BIG FIRST GAME GIVES WAGNER DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT

    On Monday, June 29, Wagner’s Post 11 Junior and Senior Legion teams played host to Salem. The bats were singing in the first game for Wagner as we used 15 hits to help earn a 14-8 win. Beau Otte had three hits including a double as he would score four times and drive one run in.

    LOCAL DELEGATES PARTICIPATE IN SOUTH DAKOTA GOP CONVENTION

    Around 750 delegates of the South Dakota Republican Party met on June 25-June 27 at the Monument in Rapid City. Eleven delegates from Charles Mix County attended. The Republican Platform was reviewed and revised by the voting members, along with many Resolutions.

    Jerry F. Novotny, 81, of Gresham, Oregon, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026. There will be a funeral at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Lake Andes at 11 am July 11. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy and the Parkinson’s Foundation.

    Doris J. Nedved, was born October 9, 1966. She was the fourth of five children born to Franklin and Rose Marie (Stedronsky) Nedved in Armour. She passed away at the VA Hospice Cottage on June 18, 2026, at the age of 59.

    AVON 8U PIRATES CAPTURE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT TITLE

    The Avon 8U Baseball team wrapped up its season in championship fashion by hosting and winning the 8U League Tournament on Saturday, June 27. The young Pirates opened the tournament with a 15-4 victory over Tabor before defeating Parkston 7-2 to advance to the championship game.
