    Even though wheat fields aren't as common around the Wagner area as they once were, Jay and Lori Kokes are keeping the tradition alive.Jay has been farming for nearly 30 years and continues to plant winter wheat each year, even though it isn't always the most profitable crop.

    POST 11 SWEPT IN ROAD DOUBLEHEADER AT MENNO

    On Tuesday, July 7, Wagner’s Post 11 Junior and Senior American Legion teams traveled to Menno and were handed two losses by the Post 182 79ers of Scotland-Menno-Freeman-Canistota.In the first game Wagner was felled by a score of 13-3. Cale Cooper started on the mound and pitched just one inning.

    President Jamie Soukup breathed a little sigh of relief as he rang the Rotary Bell for the last time as President of our local club. President Jamie has done a wonderful job as President for the past 2025-2026 year guiding the membership through programs, events, and off-site projects.

    Funeral services for Gary Romkema, 76, of Springfield, are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 15 at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield. Burial is in the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery, rural Springfield, with military honors.

    AVON 8U PIRATES CAPTURE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT TITLE

    The Avon 8U Baseball team wrapped up its season in championship fashion by hosting and winning the 8U League Tournament on Saturday, June 27. The young Pirates opened the tournament with a 15-4 victory over Tabor before defeating Parkston 7-2 to advance to the championship game.
