South Dakota High School Wrestling Coaches Association recognizes Kevin Vellek for a much-appreciated lifetime of achievements in the sport of wrestling. Since 1999, Kevin has been instrumental in rating and record keeping of both classes of high school wrestling in the state. He was instrumental in assisting coaches during seeding meetings and standing mat side during duals with lineup suggestions of which wrestler to send out to win close duals.

Kelly Kistner, President of the SD Division of the IWLA, gave the local members an update on the projects they have planned for 2026. The Bon Homme Chapter has 27 members for the year 2026. The Hunt Safety Class, Tobin Award, Trap Shooting and several other items were on the agenda. The next club meeting will be in April to set the 2026 trap shooting schedule.
Read moreThe library board has an opening on the board. Requirements are you must live within the boundaries of the Lake Andes City limits. The board terms are for 3 years. The board meets quarterly on the 2nd Tuesday of that month at 4:45 pm at the library. Besides being the governing body for the library, board members help with fundraising for the library and assisting the library to earn and keep up the accreditation status which was recently achieved.

Read moreAmerican Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on January 15, 2026 with 24 members and 5 SAL members in attendance. Commander Rados thanked the SAL members for the delicious dinner. John Crisman was the winner for the queen drawing but drew the queen of diamonds instead. We have a new member tonight as Dennis Soulek, a PUFL member, is moving his membership from the Geddes Post to the Wagner Post. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order. We had a moment of silence for Legion member Richard Dvorak for his recent passing.
