Anything from painting, quilting, baking, canning, collections, photography, gardening and so much more! All exhibits should be entered Thursday, August 1st, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the 4-H Center and must go by guidelines in the South Dakota State Fair Book.

Read moreThe Department of Veterans Affairs screened more than 4 million U.S. military veterans in the first year of the new PACT Act to find out if they thought they'd been exposed to toxins during their military service. The vast majority of those screened were already enrolled in VA health care. Of those millions of veterans, 1.7 million had 'screened positive' for possible exposure.

Brennan Leines, son of Tracy and Lucy Leines and grandson of Rose and Scott Salmen and Jim Leines was awarded a Build Dakota Scholarship in April. Brennan will be attending Mitchell Technical Institute this fall where he will study heating and cooling. Brennan first applied for this scholarship because he knew that if he was awarded it, that he would be able to focus and feel secure about his future. After completing his education, he will have a job right out of school and will have no student loan debt which will help him build his finances.

Kara Hanan has always liked to sing. As soon as she could talk, she was singing. In elementary school, Kara found that she enjoyed writing poems. At around age 16, she taught herself how to play the guitar. It was at the age of 16 when all of her the aforementioned passions and several of her talents collided and she wrote her first song for a very special event, her sister’s wedding. Singer and songwriter, Kara, had found her passion.
