For senior FFA President, Emery Bultje, this is her fifth year participating in FFA. As the president she is responsible for presiding over the meetings, appointing committees, coordinating the chapter’s activities and is the chapter’s representative when it comes to public relations. Emery’s favorite FFA activity is participating in the spring Career Development Events (CDEs). Activities that she has participated in are Leadership Development Events (LDEs) in creed speaking, employment skills and ag issues; and CDEs including horse evaluation, livestock evaluation and floriculture. FFA has taught Emery how important it is to have her priorities in order and to be organized.

The mission of FFA is to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding the growing population of the United States through teaching various ag related topics including technology, science, business, food, etc. It is a week-long event that allows members to develop their potential for leadership, personal growth and career success in creative and innovative ways while involving their non-FFA peers. Our thermostat guardian Bryan Slaba was not present as he is relaxing in the warmth of Texas so, please don’t anyone tell Bryan that we had the furnace turned WAY up!
Read moreAmerican Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on February 20 with 28 Legion members and four SOL members in attendance. Commander Rados thanked the cooks for a delicious meal. We also had Jon Strather in attendance who will be a transfer to our Post. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order. A moment of silence was given for Tyrone Peters who has recently passed.
