(use team picture for this and also maybe the coaches on the podium... may want to crop it...FYI: Avon 1st, Platte 2nd, Wagner 3rd on the podium) For the fourth year in a row, theAvonSwimTeamcaptured first place in team points at the Championship Swim Meet. 57 Avon swimmers competed in Platte on July 17 and 18. Not only did Avon win team points, but they brought home many high point trophies and other outstanding awards.
Read moreAshlyn Koupal attended the Class A State Track and Field Meet on May 23rd through 25th in Sioux Falls at the Howard Wood Field. This was her fourth time attending the state track meet to compete in the high jump event. At the Class A State Track and Field Meet, Ashlyn claimed her fourth straight high jump title. Ashlyn is the daughter of Mike and Tera Koupal. She is the granddaughter of Dwayne and Rosie Koupal; Max and Sandy Ellefson; Duane and Bonnie Wince; and Lynette Ellefson. Ashlyn is currently a junior at Wagner Community School.

Read moreSix Wagner students along with 14 teachers from across SD and ND participated in the 2024 Ocean Dakotas Institute along the New England Atlantic Coast in June. It was sponsored by the Wagner Community School through NOAA Ocean Exploration and run by Spencer Cody of the Edmunds County School district in SD. The institution focuses on educating students and teachers about ocean life and, most importantly, job opportunities involving marine science.

Read moreThe Andes Central School District will be heading into the 2024-2025 school year with a new superintendent, Clint Nelson. Nelson officially began his duties as the Andes Central superintendent on July 1st. This is not Nelson’s first position as a superintendent. Before coming to Andes Central and taking the Elementary Principal position, Nelson had been the superintendent at the Mount Vernon School District. As he had been a superintendent before, he was interested in the position and was persuaded by fellow colleagues and other superintendents to show interest in the position.
