Mrs. Becky Haenfler, the 5th and 6th grade Language Arts teacher, has been doing a summer reading challenge for several years. Barnes and Nobles offers a summer reading program that requires students to read eight books over the summer and fill out a form to get a free book. In order to go on Mrs. Haenfler’s Barnes and Nobles field trip, students are required to read eight books, complete the Barnes and Nobles form and fill out extra graphic organizers and information that is asked of them.

The Great Plains Conference is made up of 12 teams including Burke, Tripp-Delmont/Armour, Scotland, Gayville-Volin, Centerville, Alcester-Hudson, Corsica-Stickney, Andes Central/Dakota Christian, Avon, Colome, Freeman Academy/Marion and Marty. The tournament began with pool play. Avon won all three matches during this part of the tournament.

Read moreThe 2023 Andes Central/ Dakota Christian Lady Thunder volleyball team is coached by head coach, Chris Derry, and assistant coaches Josie DeHaan, and Lisa Foley. Coach Derry has been coaching for 20 years and this will be his 5th year coaching volleyball. The Thunder return six seniors to the roster Onaka Doren, Aubrey Gray, Claire Johnson, Bria Severson, Abigail Svatos and Hannah Tronvold. Juniors include Josie Brouwer, Mahpiya Irving, Syrianna Never Miss A Shot and Gabriella Olson. Katelyn Davorak, Rory Kiyukan, Halle Olson, Cambria Ronfeldt and Gracie Ronfeldt are the sophomores on the team. Finally, there are 10 incoming freshmen Kylie Archambeau, Callie Bergin, Marin Bultje, Felicity Davis, Audrey DeHaan, Madeline Derry, Adara Hopkins, Madelyn Janis, Cheyenne Siems and Madeline Waetermans.
