Anna DeHaan and Lexi Schoenfelder were the two medalists for the Andes Central/ Dakota Christian Cross Country Team at the Platte Invitational Meet on Saturday, September 24. Anna finished in 8th Place (22:40) while Lexi ended up in 15th (23:23), Eilie DeHaan just missed a medal by 9 seconds finishing in 23rd (24:32). It was a tough day for the Thunder Girls Team who narrowly finished last in the team scoring with 40 points behind Centerville 32, Freeman Academy/Marion 32, Platte-Geddes 34, Burke 34, Gregory 37, and Hanson 38.

At the end of the first quarter Avon found themselves down 12-22, but came back in the 2nd quarter to add 8 to the scoreboard. The fourth quarter, both teams ran in a touchdown, but as the final buzzer sounded the Pirates found themselves down 28-34 to take the loss.

The Varsity won in 3 straight sets with scores of 25-20, 25-14, and 25-11. The JV won in two sets with scores of 25-11 and 26-24, and the C team won in two sets as well with scores of 25-18 and 25-21.

Read moreWagner Red Raiders football team hosted the Trappers of Jim River last Friday night. The Trappers came away with a 19-0 victory. Inconsistencies in our play are hindering our chances. We have a great throw and catch to set us up on the opponents 2-yard line, but penalty takes us back to mid-field. Gap responsibilities in our defense, is to be desired. Sometimes it looks picture perfect, and we stop the opponent, other times we lose our gap, and they crack off a huge run and a new set of downs.
