Twenty-four players (7 eighth graders, 4 freshmen, 6 sophomores, 4 juniors, and 3 seniors) are looking forward to a great Avon football season. Senior Lincoln Thury said, “I am excited for this coming season. We have improved a lot as a team. We were in the weight room this summer making each other better. We have a lot of returning starters with a lot of experience.” Team captains are Thury (12), Kley Heumiller (11), and Cody Soukup (11). Summer plans for the football team consisted of a conference camp in June, weightlifting, and open field. Heumiller said, “I think that last summer really changed a lot of us for the better. Most of the team was in the weight room at least four times a week, and I think last Friday showed that. We had backs running people over and we were just overall a lot more physical. We have a long way to go, but everyone still needs to keep improving if we want to be a great football team. I am really excited for the rest of the season and can't wait to see what it brings.”
