QUAID MONTGOMERY
Funeral services for Quaid Montgomery, 28, of Wagner were Wednesday, August 22, at the American Legion Hall in Wagner. Burial was in the Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
Quaid Abrum Montgomery was born on June 19, 1990 in Yankton, to Clarence and Shelly (Cermak) Montgomery. Quaid was a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe. He tragically entered the Spirit World on August 17, 2018. He attained the age of 28 years.
Quaid was raised in Wagner. He graduated from Wagner Community School in 2009 with many awards and scholarships, including Football MVP. He was employed with MDS Manufacturing of Parkston as a Welder-Fabricator. Quaid grew up attending Ravina Holy Church of Christ and Greenwood Presbyterian Church.
Quaid was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite sport was football (Kansas City Chiefs). He was always smiling, happy, hardworking, had a heart of gold, easy going and all the kids loved him. He was a “gentle giant”. His cousin/brother Travis gave him the nickname “Monster” as a joke because he was a gentle giant, very polite and respectful to all. He will be remembered by his smile and joking ways. His passion in life was his family.
Grateful for sharing his life are his parents: Shelly and Clarence; his children: Gabe, Tuff, Kian (Toya Medicine Horn), Ashton, Zander and Zaiden (Leah Irons); his siblings: Natausha (Mike) Williams, Siqouyia Hoving-Williams and Luke (Katie) Montgomery; nieces and nephews: Lakeya, Ellisio, Jaezerrii, Deovanii and Yesenia; and numerous cousins, friends, aunts and uncles.
Quaid was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Anita (Eagleman-Young) Cermak and Louis and Margaret (LaPlante) Montgomery; uncles, cousins and other relatives.
