ALVIN W. UECKER

Funeral services for Alvin Uecker, 92, of Wagner were Wednesday, February 11 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. Burial was in the Wagner Cemetery. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
Alvin William Uecker was born December 29, 1933 in Wagner to William G and Florence (Goldhammer) Uecker. He died February 7, 2026 at the Lake Andes Senior Living Center in Lake Andes at the age of 92.
Alvin was raised on the family farm rural Wagner. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith south of Delmont and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran of Wagner. He attended Wagner Community School where he met the love of his life, Arlene Coin. They were married June 23, 1956 and to this union four children were born. Alvin farmed side by side with his son Kenny until his health faded.
In 1968 Alvin started racing cars with the highlights of racing at Husets Speedway. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time at the river with his family. At age 50 Alvin began his running career. He participated in the Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and Boston Marathons; along with many 5k, 10k, and half marathons. He traveled many miles on this Earth and impacted everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his unwavering faith and all the adventures in his life.
Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Arlene of Wagner; children: James (Jodi) Uecker of Brandon, MaryAnn Kapfenstein of Brookings, Kenny (Kristy) Uecker of Wagner and Karen (Steve) Jacoby of Eagan, MN; eight grandchildren: Kasey Uecker, Katrina Nelson, Dylan and Laryssa Kapfenstein, Nicky Jacobs, Megan Bonstead, Heather Uecker and Joel Uecker; 8 great grandchildren; brothers: Harlan (Gena) Uecker and Ronnie (Judy) Uecker of Rapid City; and sisters: Millie Laue, Arlene Mattis, both of Rapid City and Ilah Schmieding of California.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kleta Rehwaldt; and four brothers-in-law: Vic Laue, Donald Rehwaldt, Earl Schmieding, and Jack Mattis.
