Funeral services for Letha Faye Hare, 73, were Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Marty Community Center. Burial was in the WhiteShirt Cemetery. Wake services were Tuesday and Wednesday at the Marty Community Center.

Letha Faye Hare was born to Evelyn White Shirt and Maurice Sanchez on February 27, 1953 in Wagner. She began her journey on March 16, 2026 at her home in Marty surrounded by the love of her children and the comfort of hospice care.

We honor the life of a remarkable woman, a devoted mother, grand-mother, and great-grand mother whose legacy is carried on through generations. She was so loving and nurturing.

Letha was the proud loving mother of nine children: Lavonne Medicine Horn, Louis Dake Hare, Jr., Leslie Charging Hawk, Lonnie Hare, Loretta Hare, Laura Hare, Layton Hare, Lujuanda Hare.

She worked as a phone operator in the EPA program, under the Brownsfield program, water tester for the Yankton Sioux Tribe. She was a secretary for Marty Indian School. She loved to play bingo, poker, listen to all her favorite songs, but mostly she loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind to mourn a long partner Anita Ford; her children: Lavonne, Loretta, Laura, Lance, Layton, Lujuanda, and Jessa; her siblings: Donna, Morris, Anita, Frank, Mary Lou, and Judy; all of her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her friends; and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Evelyn and Mauricio, William Shields, her brother Gordon Lee Shields, Sr., sons: Lonnie Hare, Louis D. Hare, Jr., her daughter, Leslie (Charging Hawk) Hare and niece, Dana Frederick.
