CHEERLEADERS ATTEND SUMMER CAMP; PREPARE FOR FOOTBALL SEASON

With the beginning of school, so commences the beginning of cheerleading. This 2021-22 cheer team consists of nine high school girls. There are six returning cheerleaders: Reese Powers (12), Kimmy Tolsma (11), Gracie Small (11), Sarah Swier (11), Madi Mudder (11), and McKenna Kocmich (10). New to cheerleading are Maesa Kuhlman (9), Mylie Bares (9), and Ella Small (9). Powers, the only senior cheerleader, said, “It has been an honor to be on the cheer team for the past four years and spread spirit throughout the school. I will miss cheer the most along with the girls I have made forever friendships with.”

CROSS COUNTRY TEAM INCREASES NUMBERS

Almost double! The Avon Cross Country team has been small for the past few years. But this year the Cross Country team has increased in size from seven to twelve runners, eight male runners and four female runners. They have four returning runners: Haden Cahoy (12), Tyler Tjeersma (10), John Fathke (9), and Mylie Bares (9). The team also has eight new faces running this year: Jack Fathke (7), Maesa Kuhlman (9), Rance Kuhlman (7), Pierce Jonkers (9), Jordyn Voigt (7), Rilyn Thury (7), Parker Podzimek (6), Easton Sees (6), and Trevor Eggers(9).
