HSC JULY EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

A lot of things have changed in the past three decades at HSC, and Jerry Christjans, who goes by the nickname “Crush,” has been around for a lot of it. He loves HSC so much he’s worked there three different times. His first job at HSC was as a Mental Health Aide in 1989. These days Christjans is a Mental Health Security Officer.

AVON SWIM TEAM CLAIMS 1ST PLACE AT CHAMPIONSHIPS!

The Avon Swim Team competed at the James River Valley League Championships on July 16th-17th in Platte, SD. Avon has over 50 swimmers on their team this year ranging from ages 3-19. The swimmers started practicing at the beginning of June and have been working hard for the past six weeks to compete at the championship meet.

JRVL FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE YEAR

Jordyn Voigt, swimming in the girls 11-12 age group, won the James River Valley Female Swimmer of the Year award. To receive this award, a swimmer is nominated by their coaches for their dedication, hard work, skill, leadership, and love for swimming. The award is voted on by all the coaches in the league. Congratulations, Jordyn!

Locals Perform at Geddes Rodeo

Charles Mix Saddle Club held their 5 annual Charles Mix Saddle Club SDRA Rodeo Saturday and Sunday, July 17 and 18 in Geddes. Stock contractor was Squeek and Maureen Hollenbeck. Keeping the crowd entertained was Rodeo Clown Toofpik Flinn. Saturday evening Blue Room sponsored Kaylyn Sahs and Band and Sunday Morning a Cowboy Church Service was held. Sunday night spectators were entertained by Crazy Cowgirl Trick Riding. It was a busy weekend as the roster was full of contestants for both the Slacks at 9 a.m. each day and the main performances held each night beginning at 7 p.m.
