“OPEN CLASS SHOW” TO BE HELD

The Annual Open Class Show will be held during the Bon Homme County 4-H Achievement Days. If you enjoy making projects or have a hobby and would like to show off your work, here is your chance! You can enter a variety of items to show. Anything from painting, quilting, baking, canning, collections, photography, gardening and so much more! All exhibits should be entered on Friday, July 30th, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the 4-H Center and must go by guidelines in the South Dakota State Fair Book.

AVON 18U SOFTBALL RESULTS

Monday, July 5 Avon’s 18U Softball Team traveled to Tabor for the Little Missouri Valley League Tournament. Avon was the #5 seed and drew #4 Tabor in the opening round. Avon had a difficult time against Tabor’s pitching as they failed to reach base in the contest. Tabor was held to 2 runs in the bottom of the first but scored 11 in the second. Kinley Doom pitched for Avon, taking the loss.

June 8 - Avon teeners lost to Wagner at home. Leading hitters were Tyler Tjeerdsma and Landon Mudder each with 2 singles; Paxton Bierema, Jaydon Driesen, and Aziah Meyer with one hit each. Tyler T. did the pitching.

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

My daughter recently brought home a monarch caterpillar. We cared for it in a container making sure it had a supply of fresh milkweed leaves and kept its cage clean. It seemed perfectly content to munch on leaves all day. After a few days it hung upside-down from the lid of the cage and we waited for it to form a chrysalis, and eventually convert to a butterfly.
