Lowell T. McFarland, 89, was called to his heavenly home December 4, 2020 surrounded by his children at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 10, at Faith Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls. A public visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.

It is with great sadness that the family of Eddie C. Zylstra announces his passing at age 79 on Thursday, December 3, 2020 while in hospice care at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner, due to medical complications unrelated to Covid-19. His loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn, was by his side when he went home to be with the Lord.

HAROLD VAN ROEKEL

Harold Van Roekel of Goodlettsville, TN (formerly of Corsica/Wagner) passed away November 13 at Skyline Hospital in Nashville. Harold was born to Henry and Anna Van Roekel on November 24, 1934 at Timber Lake. On May 25, 1956, Harold married Marion Hoffman. They were married for 64 years. The couple had a son, Perry Van Roekel and a daughter, Kimberly Van Roekel.

Today, December 4th, marks the 101st anniversary of the day South Dakota ratified the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which recognized that women have the right to vote. Though the date may not serve as a formal holiday, this particular Governor thinks it’s worth remembering in a special way. Fourth grade life for Brielle Voigt starts at 7 o’clock in the morning getting ready for her day at school. To start her day of right, she eats her favorite breakfast of a roll, toast, or some fruit. Voigt’s fourth grade “favorites” consist of having Baily Lagge as a teacher, getting to do her favorite subject math during the day, and getting to play outside with her friends.

THREE CATEGORIES QUALIFY FOR STATE ORAL INTERP

On Sunday, November 15, Sarah Swier (10), Reese Powers (11), Makayla Kopp (11), and Reece Loewe (11) did a final run through of their scripts before sending off polished videos for regions. Ten days later results came indicating if the girls made it to state. Swier placed second in Storytelling; Powers and Kopp topped the competition placing first in duet and Loewe came in second in Serious Prose!
