National Special Education Day

This year’s National Special Education Day is being celebrated on December 2nd. This day honors the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) which became a law in 1975. This law guarantees that children with disabilities have access to free and appropriate public education. IDEA requires states to provide the same access to all students regardless of their disabilities; promotes individualized education plans (IEPs); and encourages the inclusion of students with disabilities in general classrooms.

YANKTON SIOUX TRIBE TO BUILD TINY HOMES FOR VETERANS

Following the building of the Veterans Community Project in Sioux Falls, which is a tiny home community that was built to help aid in the efforts to end Veteran homelessness in the Sioux Falls area, the Yankton Sioux Tribe decided to adopt the same type of mission, to create a Veteran’s tiny home community outside of the Wagner city limits. This community will be built south of Wagner approximately three miles on ten acres of land.

WCS STUDENTS ATTEND 2024 NATIONAL FFA CONVENTION

Four Wagner Community School FFA students and their FFA Advisor, Evan Papousek, attended the 2024 National FFA Convention & Expo held in Indianapolis, IN beginning Wednesday, October 23rd through Saturday, October 26th. The convention hosted a plethora of events making sure that there is something to pique everyone’s interests. Some of this year’s events and workshops included competitive events, delegate events, career success tours, a concert, a rodeo, student and teacher workshops, National Days of Service, student showcase stage, hypnotist shows, award recognition ceremonies, various general sessions, and the American Degree ceremony.
