The Thunderhawks kicked off their season this past Friday, August 23rd, defeating Bon Homme 26-12. This Friday, August 30th, the Thunderhawks will have a home game against Gregory in Tripp at 7 p.m.

The 2024 Lady Thunder volleyball team will start their season home opener with a match against Bon Homme at Dakota Christian on September 3rd at 7 p.m. The team will also be playing in the Hanson Tournament August 27th and 29th in Alexandria. This year’s team is coached by Head Coach Christopher Derry and assistant coach Ben Kroese. Derry has been coaching for the past 20 years, and has been the head volleyball coach of the Lady Thunder for the past five years.

The Avon Park Festival will featurelegendaryrockandroll band, Ivory on Wednesday, September4thfrom7p.m.until 9 p.m. at the Avon City Park. In addition to Ivory, Joslynn Rose from the 24th season of “The Voice” will also perform. There will be food vendors on site. All that anyone wanting to enjoy the event needs to bring is a lawn chair. Keep the coolers at home as the Avon Fire Department will have a variety of beverages available for purchase.
