The Wagner varsity boys basketball team won their 5th consecutive game Thursday night against ACDC. The boys got out to a 13-8 lead after the first period and led 24-17 at the half. The boys could not pull away from the Thunder, the game was tied 36-36 with 6 minutes left. Wagner went on a 9-0 run highlighted by a Preston McFayden 3 and a basket and free throw by Joey Cournoyer Jr. The Raiders won the game by a final score of 54-44. Joey Cournoyer Jr. filled up the stat sheet with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 deflections, and 2 steals. Preston McFayden scored 14 points and had 7 rebounds, Parker Petry scored 11 points, Carter Cournoyer scored 4 points and had 8 rebounds, Jesse Zephier, Braxton Knudsen and Brady Cournoyer each scored 2 points. This win clinches the LMVC conference title for the boys, they finished undefeated in the conference.
Read moreThe Raiders traveled to Hanson Tuesday night to take on Hanson. The boys were ranked just above the Beavers in the region standing prior to the game. The game was close the entire way, the score was 17-17 after the first period and Hanson led 28-27 at the half. Wagner pulled ahead 38-36 after three periods. Hanson took an early lead in the fourth quarter, the Raiders found themselves down by 4 with just under 2 minutes remaining. Carter Cournoyer made a 2 point basket and Joey Cournoyer Jr.
