WAGNER TAKES ON O’NEILL

Wagner took on O’Neil on Tuesday night in Nebraska. Wagner had trouble keeping up with a very good Eagles team. O’Neill made 46% of their shots from behind the arch and 55% of their 2 point field goals. Wagner fell behind early and never caught up. The boys showed some reliance by not giving up and playing hard for 4 quarters. The Red Raiders were led by Carter Cournoyer who had 11 points. Matt Link added 9, Parker Petry and Ted Slaba 7 each, Joey Cournoyer 5, Chris Nelson 4, and Preston McFayden 3. Wanger falls to 4-5 for the season.

WAGNER’S C TEAM WINS IN O’NEILL

The Red Raider C team picked up their second win of the season in O’Neill Tuesday. The Red Raiders jumped out to an early lead 11-4 after the first quarter and 24-10 at half time. Wagner led 34-16 after three quarters and won the game 44--27. Shae Kjeldgaard led the team with 11 points, Frank Soukup and Brady Cournoyer each scored 7, Deshawn Sully and Gabe Houseman each scored 5, Jesse Zephier added 4, Jeremy Cheyenne 3 and Kobe Drapeau 2. The Red Raider C team is 2-1.

RED RAIDER C TEAM LOSES AT THE BUZZER

The Wagner C team lost in overtime at the buzzer in Parkston Thursday night. The Red Raiders fell behind 12-10 after the first period but outscored Parkston 11-4 in the second quarter to take a 21-16 lead into half time. Wagner led 31-25 heading into the fourth quarter. The Red Raiders hit a late 3 pointer in regulation to send the game into overtime. The Trojans hit a runner in the paint as the final buzzer went off to win the game 4442. Brady Cournoyer led the team with 11 points, Shae Kjeldgaard had 9 points, Deshwan Sully added 8, Ky Arpan and Dominic Doom scored 5 each, Kobe Drapeau and Jesse Zephier each scored 2. The C team is now 1-1.

WAGNER BATTLES ETHAN

The Red Raider Boys took on a good Ethan team on Monday night in a make up game form earlier this season. Both teams started strong offensively, Ethan took a 17-15 lead into the second quarter. The Rustlers and Red Raiders traded baskets through the second quarter, the Red Raiders trailed 37-29 at half time. Ethan doubled Wagner’s quarter score which proved to be the difference in the game. Wagner lost 66-53 to the 8-1 Rustlers. Preston McFayden led the team with 14 points, Parker Petry, Matt Link, and Ted Slaba each scored 8 points. Chris Nelson added 6, Carter Cournoyer 4, Theron Zephier 3 and Joey Cournoyer 2.

RED RAIDER JV STAYS HOT

Wagner’s JV boys basketball team extended their win streak to 5 games in Parkston Thursday night. Wagner jumped out to an early lead 11-9 after 1 quarter and led 27-19 at the half. A big third quarter offensively allowed Wagner to open up their lead, the Red Raiders outscored Parkston 19-8 in the period and led 46-27 heading into the final frame. Wagner put up 10 more points I the fourth quarter and won by a final score of 56-34. Joey Cournoyer had a great game scoring 20 points, Parker Petry added 10, Hunter Lhotak scored 8, Preston McFayden 5, Carlos Galindo 3, Jesse Zephier, Braxton Knudsen, Deshawn Sully, Ty Aungie, and Brady Cournoyer all scored 2 points.

WAGNER TAKES ON TROJANS

The Red Raiders traveled to Parkston on Thursday night basketball game. The Trojans did a good job defending and made baskets tough to come by for the Red Raiders all night. Wagner managed just 3 points in the first period and fell behind 12-3. The Red Raiders battled the rest of the game but never got a lead, trailing 29-21 at halftime, 44-33 after 3 quarters and lost the game by a final score of 56-42. Preston McFayden led the team with 14 points, Ted Slaba had 6, Glenn Cournoyer 5, Matt Link and Carter Cournoyer each scored 4, Chris Nelson, Hunter Lhotak and Deshawn Sully finished the game with 3 each. Wagner is now 4-3

RED RAIDER JV WINS IN ETHAN

Wagner battled back from behind to defeat Ethan on Monday night. Wagner trailed 9-7 after the first period and 12-10 at the half. Ethan led 25-20 heading into the final period before Wagner’s dethird fense picked it up and held Ethan to just 2 points in the fourth quarter winning the game by a final score of 32-27. Preston McFayden and Parker Petry each scored 11 points to lead the team. Jesse Zephier, Deshawn Sully, Joey Cournoyer, Hunter Lhotak, and Carlos Galindo all scored 2 points each in the game. The Red Raider JV team improved to 7-1 with the win.
