HEALTH & WELLNESS CONSORTIUM HOSTS FITNESS EVENTS

The Wagner Area Health & Wellness Consortium held the 6th annual Fitness Challenge in February. Participants could take part in the challenge in two categories: Individual Team Challenge with four-person teams and the Business Challenge. Points were earned by doing different intensities of physical activity in 20-minute increments.

YOST NAMED TO GIRLS CLASS A SECOND TEAM

Congratulations to Emma Yost on being named to girls basketball Class A 2nd team, which was voted on by members of Class A South Dakota Coaches Association. Emma led the Raiders in scoring 13.9 points per game and rebounding with 9.7 rebounds. She also added 3.2 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Emma led Wagner in field goal percentage shooting 53.1% from the floor. Emma is the daughter of Matt and Amy Yost.

WAGNER MEET RESULTS

Wagner hosted its first track meet in three years on Tuesday, April 12, with 16 teams participating. Conditions were pleasant for the first three hours or so, but unfortunately the winds became too much to bear and the track meet was cancelled after the girls 300 meter hurdles had been run.

Stories From The Golf Courses

When I was in high school, I played a lot of golf at Lake Region Golf Course, a pretty ninehole course near Lake Poinsett. It featured few water hazards and no sand traps, but there was a barber pole on the long par-5 fifth hole. Golfers had to stay to the left as they navigated the dogleg right, otherwise it was a penalty. I always thought was a quirky feature. Then a few years ago we did a story on some of South Dakota’s most unusual golf courses, and I discovered far more idiosyncrasies on the links all over the state.

Grand Opening

Angela Blaha and Amber Mengenhauser, owners of A & A Eatery and Apothecary, are passionate about many things. The two met approximately four years ago when Mengenhauser enrolled in an empowerment class via zoom that Blaha was teaching. The women connected and when Mengenhauser was asked by Blaha what her dream job position would be during the class, she answered that she wanted to be her assistant.
