WAGNER 7/8 BASKETBALL RESULTS VS. ETHAN

The Ethan Rustlers came to Wagner to play a single game against the Raiders on Monday. Ethan got off to a fast start and pushed the ball in transition to open a 10-3 lead after the first quarter. The Raiders settled down in the second quarter and played much better transition defense and limited the Rustlers to 5 points in the quarter. This also helped them on the offensive end as they put up 14 points in the quarter to take a 17-15 lead at the half. It was an even second half as the Raiders built four- and five-point leads, only to have Ethan come back and tie the game both times. Wagner maintained a 2-point lead heading into the final period. The Raiders got into foul trouble in the 4th that led to free throws for Ethan that kept them in the game. With eleven seconds to go in the game, an Ethan player was fouled and made the front end of a one-and-one to give Ethan a 36-35 lead. He missed the second and the Raiders got the ball moved it across half court before calling a timeout. The Raiders set up a side out-of-bounds play with seven seconds to go. Ethan had the initial look defended well and the ball ended up in Dominic Doom’s hands at the 3-point line. Without hesitation, Dominic rose and shot the 3 pointer and made it at the buzzer winning the game for the Raiders by a score of 38-36. The win improves the A team record to 5-6 on the season. Leading scorers for the Raiders were: Javian Pesicka with 9, Jesse Zephier with 8, Gabe Rouse and Ky Arpan each with 6, Leon Fields with 4, Dominic Doom with 3 and Shea Kjeldgaard with 2. The Raiders travel to Plankinton on Thursday, February 17, to take on the Mount Vernon/Plankinton Titans in a pair of games.

Library news

The library staff are beginning to start thinking about Summer 2022 programming. The theme is “Ocean of Possibilities”. The theme lends itself to ocean animals of course, but we are also looking at any animals that live in salt or fresh water. As far as “possibilities” the list can be endless. The library is hoping to provide learning experiences in hand crafts such as macrame, sewing (hand or machine), pearler beads and beading crafts. The areas of gardening, foods and nutrition and STEAM activities are also going to be on the agenda.
