A GREAT NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION IDEA

As I approach my 80th birthday, I have become increasingly aware that my hunts and fishing trips won’t go on forever. I’ve already slowed down more than I let on, and from time to time I’ve alluded to this in past columns. The December 2021 issue of Deer & Deer Hunting magazine contains the article “50 Reasons Adults Quit Hunting” by Josh Honeycutt. I’m not going to parade through all of Honeycutt’s reasons, but I will touch those I feel are most relevant.

Parade of Lights

Friday, December 17th, many community members lined main street to watch the Wagner Parade of Lights. It was sponsored by Custom Touch, Sip Homestead Farms, Buches, Commercial State Bank, Bouza Construction and Lumberyard. The floats did not dissapoint, Santa made his appearance and Commercial State Bank handed out hot dogs and coffee. More photos on Page 6. Photos by Jenna Hemenway.

Rotary News

The Wagner Rotary Club met on Wednesday, December 15th for its regular weekly meeting with no guests present and Pastor Laurie Kidd offering a prayer for the beautiful sunshiny day. She asked for help for all those who were not present due to illness.

SANTA AT THE THEATER

Santa made his stop at the Wagner Theater Sunday, December 19th. The Theatre had a free movie playing for the kids with popcorn and pop. The chamber turkey drawing was also announced and 18 lucky winners received turkeys.

North Pole at North Point Recreation Area

North Point Recreation Area held their North Pole at North Point event Friday and Saturday. Saturday Santa and Mrs. Claus paid a visit. They also had hayrides and many activities at each cabin including crafts, hot cider, letters to Santa and soldiers.

Greer Post #11 American Legion

American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on December 16, 2021 at the Post Home with 31 members in attendance. Commander Rados thanked the cooks for the delicious prime rib dinner which was enjoyed by all. Three new members, Steve Woods and Shaun and Lisa Bambas were introduced and welcomed to the American Legion. Commander Clayton Rados then called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order.

VETERANS MURAL TO BE PAINTED ON JAMES DRUG

Members of VFW Post 7319 are sponsoring a mural to honor area veterans. We feel that those who served our country in time of war and peace should be recognized with a lasting tribute to their contributions to our great nation. We have talked to the owner of James Drug and been given approval to design and paint a mural on the north wall of the building.
