This past weekend Wagner’s 16U VFW teener team traveled to Colome and Winner to participate in a tournament. Wagner faced Chamberlain in their first game and it was a quick one as Wagner went down by a score of 3-0. Wagner collected only one hit in the game and that was by Hunter Loeffler. This was in the fifth inning when Wagner mounted its only real threat of the game as Joey Cournoyer walked and Daniel Soukup was plunked by a pitch to reach base along with Loeffler. For a moment it looked like we would plate a run or two as Carlin Hopkins hit a sharp grounder up the middle, but the shortstop made a nice play to force the runner at second. The only other player to reach for Wagner was Corbin Carda on a walk.
Read moreOn Monday, June 7, Wagner hosted Platte in two teeners contests. The 14U team got their first win of the season in walk-off fashion as Carter Cournoyer singled home Malakai Segura with the winning run for the 8-7 win. Preston McFayden, Brady Cournoyer, and Segura each had two hits with Segura and Cournoyer each scoring two runs. Cole Bergin, Carter Cournoyer, and Hunter Loeffler each collected one hit.
