WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL SENIOR SPOTLIGHTS

One of this week’s WCS Senior spotlights highlights McKenzie Fuchs. McKenzie is the daughter of Curtis and Sherri Fuchs. McKenzie has many nicknames ranging from Mc^2, Mac and Cheese, Kenz and Kenzie. During McKenzie’s years at Wagner Community School, she has participated in many extra-curricular activities including volleyball (four years), basketball (two years), newspaper/ yearbook (four years), stats (2 years), chorus (three years) and swimming (four years).

WAGNER LOSES TO BON HOMME

The Wanger boys basketball team lost to Bon Homme on Tuesday night in region play. The Raiders trailed 12-13 after the first period. Wagner outscored Bon Homme in the second period and led 26-22 at half time. Bon Homme outscored Wagner in both quarters of the second half and won the game on a buzzer beater 3 pointer 48-45. Joey Cournoyer Jr. had a game high 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Carter Cournoyer had 9 points and had 11 rebounds. Parker Petry scored 8 points and Brady Cournoyer added 6 points. Wagner won the rebounding battle 41-22, the difference in the game was points off turnovers, Bon Homme scored 17 points off of Wagner’s 12 turnovers while the Red Raiders scored 4 points off of Bon Homme’s 5 turnovers. The Wagner boys team finished the season with a 12-9 record.

GRAIN BIN RESCUE TRAINING

Avon Fire Department held a Grain Bin Rescue Training Monday, February 26 at Farmers Pride elevator in Avon. Twenty-five volunteers showed up from Avon and Dante departments. The training was instructed by Brady Petrik, Kevin Tjeerdsma and Jarod Myer. They thought it was necessary for a refresher with Spring right around the corner and local farmers starting to move grain that was put in their bins during harvest. It is great to know that our local volunteers are staying up on their trainings to help keep our district safe.
