Wake services for Kimberly Hare, 49, of Phoenix AZ, formerly of Wagner were held Friday at the American Legion Hall in Wagner. She was cremated following her services. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

ZENJO WOLFCHILD

Zenjo D’Arius Wolfchild, Hta chu sni win (The Cool of the Evening Dew Woman), 25, of Wagner, a member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe of Rocky Boy, MT and the Yankton Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, passed away due to natural causes on July 1, 2023 in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service was held July 8 at the South Housing Gym in Wagner. Burial followed at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Marty. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Letter to the editor

Dear Editor, The landowners in Gregory and Charles Mix Counties affected by Gregory Co. Pumped Storage Project received a letter dated May 23, 2023 stating that “MidAmerican and MRES have decided not to pursue the project “at this time” and applied to FERC to surrender their permit application which remained in effect until June 30, 2023. They stated the project was terminated due to financial reasons and market value fluctuations. They also stated “Landowner Opposition” had nothing to do with their decision. Of course, we would like to think we had something to do with the termination, but we’ll probably never know.

Wednesday, July 5th was the beginning of Wagner Rotary Club’s 2023-24 year. The new President Becky Brunsing brought the club members to order. Rotarian Craig Krsnak once again filled the Secretary- Treasurer position. The new Sergeant at Arms will be Jamie Soukup and his assistant will be Amanda Bechen.
