LAKE ANDES FIRE DEPARTMENT RECEIVED THEIR SCBA MASK

Lake Andes Fire Department received their Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) mask this weekend. This was a joint grant between Charles Mix and Douglas County. The grant was an AFGE grant that was awarded in 2021. Lake Andes received six SCBA and Ravinia received three SCBA.

NEW NAME FOR CHARLES MIX REPUBLICAN WOMEN

The Charles Mix Republican Women have changed their name to South Central Republican Women. President Trudy Qualm states, “We currently have members from eight counties from this area, so the name Charles Mix Republican Women no longer reflects who we are and the area we focus on.” The official name change application was reviewed and approved by both the National Federation of Republican Women and the South Dakota Federation of Republican Women.

If you are an avid angler, you want to be on our Francis Case Reservoir, or beneath the dams at either Pickstown or Ft. Thompson, pursuing walleyes right now! One can either troll or toss minnow-tipped jigs, but either way, move or retrieve slowly and quietly. I like fourpound test monofilament line and eighth-ounce jigs. I also like chartreuse in color. They won’t be as aggressive as post-spawn walleyes, but you have a greater chance of nailing a big one. Please put the egg-laden fish back in the river.
