FEATHER CEREMONY

Wagner Community School will hold a Feather Ceremony on May 13, 2022, at 5:30 pm in the auxiliary gym. The Feather Ceremony is a symbol of hope that the students will soar toward a brighter tomorrow and rewarding future: for themselves, their community, and their tribe. Wambdi- Eagle, is held in high respects by the Dakota/Lakota/Nakota people. It is said that we use him to carry messages to our creator because he flies so high. The eagle is held in high admirations and to earn a feather is a high honor. The tying of the feathers by a family member of a graduate is a key part to the ceremony. The feather ceremony is a tradition passed down through the years. The tradition has withstood time and all the hardships that Native American people have endured.
