The May 21st Rotary Club began their meeting with Song Leader Gerrit Juffer leading the members in a rousing rendition of The Battle Hymn of the Republic in honor of the upcoming Memorial Weekend.

Locals attending the event were City Administrator Debbra Houseman, Wagner Area Growth Executive Director Margaret Doom, City Council President Brenda Jaton, Wagner Boys and Girls Club Health and Life Skills Coordinator Amy Doom, Fort Randall Federal Credit Union team members Jenni Dvorak and Jenna Weisser, Mayor Alyssa Mathis, and Jason Kuhlman. Dana Sanderson was a guest speaker for a breakout session entitled “605 Unity Jam ‘A Jamboree of Art & Music’ A Multi-Cultural Celebration.”

The Unity Jam is being held on Sunday, June 15 at Wagner Lake and will feature: Youth Fishing, Teen Spike Ball Tournament, Bean Bag Tournament, Blindfold Canoe Races, Arts and Craft Show, Food Trucks, Traditional Czech Dancing Demonstration, Youth Powwow, Lots of Live Music, Outdoor Church Service and more. The entertainment will include: Uncle Roy and the Boys, Kara Hanan, CZ & the Walleyes, Kobe Jordan, Ted & Alice Mille (Great Plains Folk Music), Indigenous and Mogen’s Heroes.

Read moreAmerican Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on May 15th, 2025 with 29 Legion members and 3 SAL members in attendance. Also in attendance were three of our four scholarship winners; Presley Slaba, Carter Smejkal and Lydia Yost. They all stood and thanked the Legion and gave a brief synopsis of their future plans. A round of applause was given to tonight’s cooks. Chaplain Don Kotab then gave the invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all followed by the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion. Commander Clayton Rados then called the meeting to order.
