Read moreAvon's 18U softball team competed in the Little Missouri Valley League Tournament Wednesday, July 9 in Plankinton. Avon came into the tournament with an undefeated record and the #1 seed. In the first round of the tournament Avon took on Menno. Mennogotontheboard in the top of the first with 3 runs. Avon was able to score in the 2nd and 3rd, but took the lead for good in the bottom of the 4th as Abby Gretschmann stole home. Leading hitter for the game was Pria Sesler with 2 hits including a double and 2 RBI. Other hitters included Lydia Yost, Kaeli Wallinga, Brielle Voigt, and Rowan Brandt all with 1 hit. Macy Voigt pitched for Avon, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while walking 3 and striking out 5.
