Marilyn Cahoy, age 77, passed away on September 4, 2026. Her Funeral Mass was Wednesday, September 9 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Tabor, with burial in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. 

Marilyn was born September 18, 1948, to Glen and Marie (Kutilek) Lane. She grew up on farms near Utica, Lesterville, and Tabor. She graduated from Tabor High School in 1966. Marilyn married the love of her life, Ray Cahoy, on August 9, 1969, and they made their home on the family farm northwest of Tabor. Marilyn and Ray loved playing pinochle around the kitchen table with family and friends, laughing and telling jokes, and they enjoyed polka dancing at Beseda Hall and Groveland Park. 

Family was the most important part of Marilyn’s life. She devoted herself to her children and grandchildren, supporting them in whatever way they needed. She rarely missed a grandchild’s sporting event or school activity and was incredibly proud of each of them. Her home was always welcoming, and her large meals often fed an army instead of the 15 people who were expected. Grandma created special memories unique to each grandchild that they will always treasure. 

Marilyn loved casino trips with friends and family and escaping to the warmth of Phoenix, where she enjoyed spending time with Gary and Sharon beside the pool. She was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She loved talking about her favorite players, complaining about the team, and especially rubbing it in when the Twins beat someone else's team. Some of her favorite trips were to see the Twins play at the Metrodome and Target Field. 

Marilyn will be deeply missed by her children, Mark and Kris Cahoy of Avon, Jeff and Tammy Cahoy of Tabor, Amy and Jason Clare of Yankton, and Jean and Shannon Goeden of Tabor; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Haden and Erica Cahoy, Nate, Kallie, and Leah Meyer, Sam and Mackenzie Clare, Kayla, Logan, Hayley, Presley and Aubrey Rothschadl, and Sawyer and Greeley Goeden; her siblings, Vera Bares of Tyndall and Gary and Sharon Lane of Sioux Falls; Ray's family, Marcy and Lumir Ruman of Tyndall and Janice Cahoy of Tabor; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. 

When Marilyn passed away, she was happily reunited with her beloved Ray, whom she had missed every day since his passing in 2010; her granddaughter, Mya Cahoy; her brother, Darrel; and many other beloved family members and friends.
