Jonathan Scott Hambelton, Sr. 'Hamz,' 32, of Marty, was born to Wanda LeRoy and Garrett Patterson Sr. in Yankton on November 16, 1992. On September 2, 2026 he began his journey to the Spirit World at the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner.

Jon attended Marty Indian School, graduating in 2012. During his time at Marty, he enjoyed playing football and basketball. Above all, he cherished being surrounded by his close family and friends.

He loved listening to music, playing ball, and bringing smiles to the faces of those around him. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his son, Jonathan, Jr. He was a loving father, brother, son, uncle, and partner who deeply valued the time he shared with those he loved, especially with his other half, Tess Primeaux.

Jonathan is survived by his son, Jonathan Jr.; his siblings: Garrett (Harmony) Patterson, Ceeanne ( LaJuanda) Cooke, Brian Franklin, and Michael Franklin Jr.; his significant other, Tess Primeaux; and many family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Funeral services were Saturday, September 5 at the YST South Gym in Wagner. Burial was in the Hill Church Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
