Olivia Breen a senior at Wagner Community School was selected to serve as a legislative page in the state capitol from January 10-22. Breen was able to sit in on committee meetings and tour the top of the capitol building. Her duties as page were as assigned daily when legislative team members needed secretarial services. Olivia says overall, it was an amazing experience, and it opened my eyes to how important government is in this country. Breen is planning to pursue a Political Science degree from SDSU and with the hope of becoming a lawyer or even possibly a Senator someday. Breen is also planning on returning next year as an intern and reconnecting with the people she met during her time in Pierre. The Legislative Page Program is a great way to get kids involved in state government, regardless of what occupation they plan on pursuing.
