The Andes Central/Dakota Christian runners competed in the Scotland Invitational Cross Country Meet on Tuesday, September 7. Earning medals for the Thunder Girls Team were Anna DeHaan coming in 13th with a personal best time of 21:50 and Lexi Schoenfelder finishing in 16th at 22:07. Sonya Hansum finished in 41st place to give the girls a team score of 58 which was 5th out of eight schools with full teams. The team from Chamberlain had 10 points followed by Kimball/White Lake 17, Gregory 23, Ethan/Parkston 49, AC/DC 58, Burke 65, Irene-Wakonda 68 and Alcestor-Hudson 70.

Today’s column might be the most comprehensive ever written on two-barreled shoguns. A good Mitchell, SD friend likes to tease me about my over & under shotgun. As I’ve never seen him miss a shot with his autoloader, there’s not much I can say other than it’s the man, not the gun. I suspect that a few column readers are about to buy their first shotgun. Others are considering a second or new gun. Although semi-automatics are the most popular choice in America, I have some strong arguments on why that new gun should be an over & under.

Funeral services for LeRoy Brandt were held Saturday, September 11 at the First Baptist Church in Avon. While the family greatly appreciates the gift of flowers and plants, memorial donations are preferred, which will be distributed among LeRoy’s favorite charitable organizations. Peters Funeral Chapel in Avon was in charge of arrangements.
