CELEBRATING THE PRINCIPALS OF ANDES CENTRAL

Even though they deserve to be celebrated and honored every day for their dedication and hard work toward the betterment of the students and staff in the community, one day a year there is a formal celebration for school principals. National School Principal Day falls on May 1st of each year and was founded by Janet Dellaria of Michigan. This is a day when principals are recognized and celebrated for all that they do for their schools, staff and students. Principals have an important job; they set the academic tone in how they interact with their staff and students and how they encourage their students to succeed. Principals implement their vision through dedication and determination to provide an environment that is successful and positive for both students and teachers. This Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, it is time to celebrate the wonderful principals of Andes Central, Clint Nelson and Christopher Derry.

GROUP OF ANDES CENTRAL STAFF TO BEGIN “EAGLES EAT” PROGRAM

In partnership with the Lake Andes Food and Wellness Council, acommitteeof AndesCentral staff members is working to form a Backpack Program to send food items home twice a month with participating students. The South Dakota State University Extension Office conducted a needs assessment for this type of program in our community; the results indicated a lot of support. Of the 66 community members that responded to the survey, 57 agreed or strongly agreed that a Backpack Program would be beneficial for the children in our community.

SOUTH DAKOTA FARM BUREAU AWARDS $8,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

Riata Bultje, Lake Andes, SD is a recipient of one of the Agriculture Focus Scholarships. She will be graduating from Andes Central High School and will attend South Dakota State University, majoring in Agriculture Education. Her parents are Brice and Darci Bultje of Lake Andes.
