That’s right, the funniest guy in rodeo, we affec-tionately call “Rump”, is coming back to entertain crowds at all three performances of the rip roarin’ bronc stompin’ Burke Stampede Rodeo.

Read moreThe City of Wagner held a special council meeting on Tuesday, June 25th at 5:30 p.m. As one walked into the meeting as either a participant or simply an attendee, he or she must sign in and then are given the option if they would like to speak to be put on the list for the public comment part of the meeting. Looking around the room before the meeting started every chair was taken and it was standing room only. The meeting began by being called to order by Mayor, Tammy Thornton, followed by those in attendance being told that this city council meeting was being videotaped. Then everyone in the room stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance in unison, before being seated. Mayor Thornton then proceeded to ask the city council if there was anyone who had a conflict of interest with anything on the day’s agenda. With no one having a conflict, she then asked for a motion to approve the agenda for the current meeting. After being unanimously approved by those on the board in attendance, the mayor then opened the floor for public comment.
Read moreOn Wednesday, June 19, Wagner’s Post 7319 VFW 14U and 16U teeners hosted Parkston. The 14U team struggled to hit and field the ball in this contest as they would fall to the visitors by a score of 12-0. Colton Zephier started on the mound and gave up eight runs, five earned, on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in three innings of work. Landon Ronfeldt came on to pitch the final two frames. He did a nice job of filling up the strike zone but he was also plagued by some porous Wagner defense as all four runs allowed were unearned. He allowed two hits while walking one and hitting two Parkston batters.

On Wednesday, June 26, the Post 7319 teeners traveled to Salem to take on the Cubs. As usual, the evening would start with the 14U game. Salem had one more hit than Wagner, but they would end up with 14 more runs as they would win by a score of 14-0 as they used 11 walks and 10 errors to come away with the victory. Ethan Gabel was the pitcher of record. He gave a valiant effort but would give up six runs, only one being earned, on zero hits and four walks. Avery Medicine Bear, Colton Zephier, and Landon Ronfeldt all pitched in this contest. It stands to reason that in a game where your defense commits ten errors that many runs will be unearned and that was the case here, as all of the runs given up by those three pitchers were unearned. Beau Otte and Steven Peters collected two hits each and that was all the offense Wagner could muster.
