EXCLUSION OF THE EXISTING FISCHER FARMS PROPERTY FROM ETJ AND PLACEMENT OF BUFFALO TOP TOPICS AT CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The City of Wagner held their monthly city council meeting on Wednesday, September 4th at 6 p.m. at the Wagner Armory. Some of the bigger topics discussed at that meeting were Nathan Kafka’s request to amend the ETJ boundary to exclude 80 acres that once was Fischer Farms, East River Horizons request to place the Buffalo statuaries at Wagner Lake, request to purchase portable swim lane bulkheads for the city pool, and updates to McCormick Ball Park fence.

Wagner Cross Country ran at the Gregory Cross Country Invite on Tuesday, September 2nd. The wind was a major factor in a way that often times happens in South Dakota. The kids were running into the wind more than they were not. However, this did not stop them. They powered through. The results are as follows:

WAGNER RAIDERS HOME OPENER ENDS WITH THE WIN 27-0

The Wagner Red Raiders home opener ends in a win. The Red Raiders welcomed in last years 11B state champions the Hot Springs Bison. Raiders were able to out pace them with a final score of 270. Leading the way was junior QB Gannon Knebel with 225 rushing yards and 2 rushing Touch downs. Knebel also pitched in 80 yards passing on the night with a 15 yard passing touchdown to junior receiver Shea Kjeldgaard. Other notable offense contributors include Sophmore RB Javian Pesicka who is credited for 70 yards rushing and one touchdown. Hunter Lhotak with 40 yards receiving. Carlos Galindo with 38 yards receiving.

PADRNOS INDUCTED INTO SD BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME

Dick Padrnos, formerly of Lake Andes, was inducted into the South Dakota Basketball Hall of Fame on August 24th in Sioux Falls. Padrnos was a standout basketball player for the Lake Andes High School Eagles during the years of 1947 through 1951. He wore number 33 and was the team’s center. As an eighth grader, Padrnos was a starter on the varsity basketball team and started for the Eagles for five seasons. He led the team in scoring his freshmen through senior year and would score 250-300 points per season. During his senior year, Padrnos averaged 23 points per game with his highest scoring game against Armour where he scored 40 points. He helped lead the Eagles to their first state basketball tournament in 1951, where they finished in 3rd place. The Eagles ended that season with a 30-1 win-loss record.
