MCFAYDEN TIES A 25-YEAR-OLD SCHOOL RECORD

The Red Raiders won their eighth game on Thursday night easily defeating Burke 68-38. The Red Raiders went back and forth with Burke in the first period, then Wagner held Burke to just 1 point in the second quarter and took a 30-9 lead into half time. Wagner extended their lead to 30 points in the second half. Preston McFayden tied the school record, he made 9 three pointers, Paul Kuhlman made 9 in a game in the 1998 season. McFayden had a game high 28 points. Ted Slaba added 13 points, Joey Cournoyer added 10, Chris Nelson 9, Carter Cournoyer 4 and Parker Petry 4.

WAGNER JV FALLS TO BURKE

Wagner lost to Burke’s JV 3937 on Thursday night. Wagner led 24-13 at half time but could not hold on to their lead as Burke scored 18 points in the final period. Parker Petry scored a team high 14 points, Joey Cournoyer added 13, Jesse Zephier scored 8 and Brady Cournoyer added 2 points.

RED RAIDER JV LOSES TO PLATTE-GEDDES

Platte Geddes jumped out to a 19-10 lead after the first period and a 43-26 lead heading into the half. Wagner battled with the Black Panthers in the second half but lost the game 65-50. Jesse Zephier led the team with 11 points, Hunter Lhotak added 10, Brady Cournoyer scored 9, Parker Petry had 8, Joey Cournoyer 6, Shae Kjeldgaard 4 and Javian Pesicka 2.

WAGNER BEATS CHAMBERLAIN

The Red Raiders picked up their seventh win of the year Friday night at home against Chamberlain. The Cubs were ahead 11-13 after the first period and Wagner led 28-27 after the first half. Wagner held Chamberlain to 4 points in the third period and took a 42-31 heading into the fourth quarter. Wagner held on to their lead and won the game 54-40. Matt Link led the team with 12 points, Chris Nelson added 11. Carter Cournoyer added 10, Parker Petry 8, Preston McFayden 4, Ted Slaba 2 and joey Cournoyer scored 1. Wagner went 14-19 from the foul line and out rebounded Chamberlain 33-26.

WAGNER FALLS TO PLATTE/GEDDES IN OVERTIME

The Red Raiders lost to a good Platte Geddes team in overtime on the road Friday night. Wagner trailed 12-10 after the first period and were leading 26-22 after the first half. Platte cut the lead to 2 points heading into the fourth period. Chris Nelson made 2 free throws with 5.7 seconds left to tie the game at 52 and send the game to over time. Platte outscored Wagner 8-2 in the extra period winning the game 60-54. Chris Nelson scored 15 points to lead the team. Preston McFayden had 14 points, Carter Cournoyer and Parker Petry each scored 8, Glenn Cournoyer added 4, Joey Cournoyer scored 3 and Ted Slaba added 2 points.
