“OPEN CLASS SHOW” TO BE HELD

The Annual Open Class Show will be held during the Bon Homme County 4-H Achievement Days. If you enjoy making projects or have a hobby and would like to show off your work, here is your chance! You can enter a variety of items to show. Anything from painting, quilting, baking, canning, collections, photography, gardening and so much more! All exhibits should be entered on Friday, August 5th, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the 4-H Center and must go by guidelines in the South Dakota State Fair Book.

“FLOWER SHOW” TO BE HELD

The Annual Open Class “Flower Show” will be held during the Bon Homme County 4-H Achievement Days. The flower exhibits should be entered on Friday, August 5th, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the 4-H Grounds.

LIBRARY NEWS

Avon Public Library held the 3rd session of their Summer Reading Program on July 11th. Thirty-nine children were in attendance. Our guest reader was Sara Hammel from Novato, California. The kids enjoyed the read-aloud, made jellyfish crafts and had jellyfish snacks. Our next session will be July 25th at 12:30pm. Remember to be working on our A-Z author challenge. Special thanks goes out to Walter’s Construction, Carol Sweir, and Ron’s Market for donations to the summer reading program.

BACK TO BACK CHAMPS!

The Avon Swim Team wrapped up their season at the Championship Swim Meet held in Platte on July 14th and 15th. Avon had 51 swimmers participate in the two day meet. For the second year in a row, the team scored the most points overall, awarding them Team Champions.

ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH YOUTH ATTEND GATHERING IN TEXAS

The Zion Lutheran Youth Group attended the LCMS National Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas from July 7th – 13th. The ten youth group members attended a South Dakota event, bible studies, themed breakout sessions, and mass events to celebrate how God is “In All Things”. They also participated in a servant event where they built and delivered beds to children for the organization “Sleep in Heavenly Peace.” The event was attended by over 20,000 youth and it provided a great opportunity to learn and grow in their faith.
