The tuckpointing of the Carnegie Public Library is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Sept 28th. The front door and front steps will also be replaced at this time. These repairs will allow the use of the building as a Museum to continue for years to come. A portion of the cost of these repairs is paid for with a grant from the South Dakota Historical Society and the remainder from donations from concerned citizens and the City of Lake Andes. If would like to donate please visit City Hall or you may mail a donation to the Library at P.O. Box 248, Lake Andes, SD 57356.

SDDVA MEETS WITH LOCAL VETERANS

The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs (SDDVA) along with the Charles Mix County Veterans Service Office hosted the first “Veterans, See What’s Brewing” event on September 21, 2022 at the Wagner American Legion. The Department took the opportunity to visit with veterans in Charles Mix, Douglas and Gregory counties.

CROSS COUNTRY AT PLATTE INVITATIONAL

Anna DeHaan and Lexi Schoenfelder were the two medalists for the Andes Central/ Dakota Christian Cross Country Team at the Platte Invitational Meet on Saturday, September 24. Anna finished in 8th Place (22:40) while Lexi ended up in 15th (23:23), Eilie DeHaan just missed a medal by 9 seconds finishing in 23rd (24:32). It was a tough day for the Thunder Girls Team who narrowly finished last in the team scoring with 40 points behind Centerville 32, Freeman Academy/Marion 32, Platte-Geddes 34, Burke 34, Gregory 37, and Hanson 38.

CROSS COUNTRY AT CHAMBERLAIN

The Chamberlain Cross Country Meet, held last Thursday September 15, featured some of the top runners in the state. Pierce Baumberger of Miller ran an impressive 16:49 5K and Isabelle Bloker from Sioux Valley topped the girls field in 18:56.
