THE NATURE OF THINGS BY LISA HARE

A while back someone from here, that no longer lives here, made the rare trip back here for a funeral. He hasn’t lived in the Midwest for more than fifty years now so he’s forgotten much. SENIOR MUSIC TRIP

On June 7th and 8th the Avon Senior Choir and Band members ventured to Omaha for their music trip. They enjoyed outdoor dining and shopping at the Old Market, Westroads Mall, attended the musical Anastasia, stayed at a new contemporary hotel where they played pool, arcade games, and dice games. The next day they started at Zen coffee where they tried coffee flights and gourmet toast flights, followed by 36 holes of mini golf, batting cages, and more shopping. On the way back they enjoyed a scenic look out point near Vermillion. Thanks to everyone that has supported our fundraisers throughout the year. This is the only way these trips are possible, and we make some pretty great memories together! Pictured infront of the Orpheum Theater is Haden Cahoy, Mrs. Schultz, Kiara Driesen, Tiffany Pelton, Reece Loewe, Ms. Larsgaard, Haleigh Tjeerdsma, Makayla Kopp, and Katie Gretschmann.

STATE GOLF RESULTS

The 2022 Girls Class B State Golf Meet was held Monday, June 6 and Tuesday, June 7 at Heart Ranch Golf Course just outside of Rapid City. Sophomore, McKenna Kocmich was Avon High’s only state tournament qualifier this season after her 9th place finish at the Region Tournament. The Heart Ranch Golf Course proved to be a tough test for the class B girls golfers, along with severe weather that delayed the tournament each of the 2 days. Kocmich was able to navigate the course for a two day total of 196, which placed her tied for 28th in a field of 100 golfers.
