Read moreTuesday, June 14 Avon’s 18U Softball Team traveled to Menno for a doubleheader. In game one Avon got out to an early lead and held Menno down the stretch for a 6-3 victory. Avon was led at the plate by Katie Gretschmann who had 2 hits, hit by pitch twice, a stolen base, 2 runs scored, and a RBI. Other hitters for Avon included Sam Brodeen, Macy Voigt, Karlie DeVries, and Paityn Radack all with singles and Emma Yost added a double. Lydia Yost pitched a complete game for Avon, striking out 13 and walking 1 batter.

Read moreOn Monday, June 13, Wagner hosted Mt. Vernon-Plankinton for some 14 and 16U action at Hennies Field. The 14U team went down by a score of 11-0. As the score would indicate, there is not much good to report from this game. Javian Pesicka started pitching for Wagner and got little help defensively as MVP would tally four unearned runs in the first frame. He would go on to pitch three innings giving up a total of seven runs, three being earned, on eight hits and a walk while striking out four.

Read moreThe Wee Pees and Pee Wees are coached by Joe Sees and Whitney Podzimek and the Midgets are coached by Ted Wonnenberg. The Wee Pees Tourney will be held in Avon on June 25. The first round of playoffs for the Pee Wees begins on June 23rd and June 24th for the Midgets.
