Another basketball season is underway in Avon. The fifth and sixth junior high boys basketball season has begun! ARCHERY PRACTICE BEGINS IN AVON

Avon Archery Team, along with their Coaches Troy Soukup and Chuck Zacharias, have begun practice for the season. The 15 archers from grades six through twelve practice every Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. trying to acquire the mandatory ten hours of practice necessary to compete at the State Archery Competition on April 1, in Spearfish, SD.

ONE-ACT PLAY CAST ADVANCES TO STATE

This year the Avon Drama Club performed “The Empty Chair,” a one-act drama, by Tim Kelly. It is about a group of teenagers recovering from substance abuse. Robert died of overdose and the others are left wondering! Each teen speaks about his/her memories with him through a series of monologues.

FIRST GRADERS ATTEND Q & U WEDDING

On Friday, January 21, Mrs. Benita Kuhlman’s first grade class had a Q and U wedding. Mrs. Kuhlman uses this wedding as a way to help her students remember that in phonics you cannot have the letter Q without the letter U. The first graders said, “Q and U get married so they are not lonely, and no letter can keep them apart.”

STAFF HARD AT WORK ON 2022 YEARBOOK EDITION

Currently, the Avon Yearbook Staff is hard at work creating the 2022 edition of the AHS yearbook. The book is one of the only records available each school year. These 80 pages contain memories of sports, fine arts, academics, student life, class rosters, and many other surprises.
