Monday, February 28, the Avon Boys Basketball Team traveled to Kimball to take on the Kimball-White Lake WildKats for the first round of Region 6B basketball. Unfortunately, the Pirates’ season was cut short due to a 31-54 loss against the WildKats. The Pirates ended the season with a record of 3-18.

On March 9, Mrs. Autumn Schultz's middle school students went to Alcester-Hudson for the Middle School Music Festival. The festival was made up of schools in the southwest part of South Dakota.

Avon’s US Government class is involved in a mock presidential election. According to government teacher Kris Cahoy, this is an opportunity for the senior class to run a campaign and organize their stances on issues in order to create a media promotion for their candidates. This month-long project started February 15 and ends on election day, March 15. All the grades will get to vote.

Avon High School's Health Occupation Student Association (HOSA) chapter traveled to USD on March 3. The chapter explored the campus, learned about the different occupations in the medical field, and toured the cadaver lab.
Read moreCoach Bailey Lagge had these remarks on the boys basketball season coming to an end: "I thought this season we had a lot of players make big improvements in their game. We were able to come together for a few wins while improving and playing teams tough all season. I am really proud of the leadership shown by the seniors on our team and how they modeled putting forth 100% effort. We had kids step into new roles and really help out the team. Thank you to Coach Wince and Coach Fathke for their help with the program and a big thank you to the community for all their support. Looking forward to a productive offseason and improving next season."
