WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL SEEKS TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS

Wagner Community School is seeking nominations for the Wagner Community School Teacher of the Year Award. Those seeking to nominate an educator for the award are asked to complete the nomination form that can be found in the Wagner Announcer on March 7 or March 14, 2022 and send it to Wagner Community School, ATTN: Mr. Matt Yost, Superintendent, 101 Walnut Avenue SW, Wagner, SD 57380. Nomination forms may also be picked up in any of the Principal’s offices or the business office. The deadline is by noon on Friday, April 1, 2022. No forms will be taken after that.

READ ACROSS AMERICA AND DR SEUSS’S BIRTHDAY OBSERVED AT WAGNER ELEMENTARY

A week of activities and dress up days was observed by Wagner Elementary School students February 28 – March 1 to celebrate Read Across America and Dr Seuss’s birthday. Students and staff took part in the celebration each day wearing green clothing, mismatched socks, mismatched/inside out clothing, pajamas and Dr Seuss hats. Two winners were chosen each day with Mary Virginia Ashes being one of the winners on Thursday “Sleep Book” day on pajama day. Eva Freidel was also among the winners. Photos by Jan Woods

SIMONSEN HONORED FOR HIS RETIREMENT

Tim Simonsen was recently honored for his retirement as Wagner Police Chief of Police. He’s a little sad to leave the only job he’s known for over 32 years but is excited to start the next chapter in his career as Shop Manager at Agland Coop in Armour. Rotary News

Wagner Rotary met Wednesday, March 9th in a very chilly meeting room. Someone, undiscovered yet, turned the heat off last week when they left. It was 7 degrees. Our thermostat is a new breed that is preset, and we all have had strict instructions not to touch it for any reason. President Slaba was beyond disturbed, so we shall see what next week brings. It could go either way, a confession, a lynching, or be totally forgotten. Who knows?
