The Red Raiders scored 21 points in the fourth quarter and defeated Scotland on Thursday night to pick up a road win. Wagner trailed 8-6 after the first period and 25-23 at halftime. Scotland outscored Wagner in the third period by 2 and led 38-34 heading into the fourth quarter. The Red Raiders made some big shots in the final minutes of the game and won by a final score of 55-46. Chris Nelson led the team with 22 points, Preston McFayden added 11, Joey Cournoyer scored 8, Glenn Cournoyer 5, Parker Petry 4, Matt Link 2, Ted Slaba 2 and Carter Cournoyer had 1 point. The Eagles shot the ball very well and scored 23 points in the second period making the score 27-17 in their favor heading into halftime. Irene-Wakanda extended their lead to 20 points in the second half before Wagner came storming back to cut the deficit to 4 points. The Red Raiders could not get a lead and lost the game 56-44. Chris Nelson led the team with 11 points, Glenn Cournoyer added 8, Ted Slaba scored 7, Joey Cournoyer 6, Preston McFayden 4, Matt Link, Carter Cournoyer and Parker Petry all scored 2 points.

The Lady Raiders traveled to Scotland to take on the Highlanders last Thursday night in girls basketball action. Wagner would jump out to an early 9-0 lead and never look back. They would hold a 42-11 lead at halftime and finish the game with a score of 68-26. Wagner would shoot 25-53 for 47% while Scotland would go 10-40 for 25%. Wagner would out rebound Scotland 33-21. Wagner would led by Emma Yost with 17 points, 7 boards, 5 steals, and 3 assists. Ashlyn Koupal would follow that with 16 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, and 3 blocks. Shalayne Nagel would be the third Raider in double figures while also posting a double-double 10 points, 11 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Lydia Yost would add 6 points 2 assists and 2 steals. Eve Zephier would chip in 5 points and dish out a team high 6 assists. Macy Koupal would also add 5 points, 3 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Cadence Bernie and Braxton Nedved would each add 3 points, Aubrey Medricky 2 and Hayden Fischer 1. “We did a much better job of playing man defense tonight. We were quicker on our rotations when we need to help. We moved the basketball quickly on offense and attacked the rim. We were also very aggressive on the glass.”
