The boys golf team traveled to Winner on Tuesday, September 13th for the Winner Golf Invitational. Wagner brought 6 golfers to the event with two competing in varsity and six competing in junior varsity. Matt Link (15th) and Colby Krcil (25th) were the varsity golfers at the event for Wagner. Both boys played well and continue to improve their game. Carter Smejkal (9th), Caleb Zephier (15th), Jacob Anderson (17th), and Vince Bechen (18th) were the JV golfers for the event. It was a great opportunity for these athletes to test their skills and take on the challenge of competition. The next action for the team is Tuesday, September 20th at Fish Lake.

The Wagner Red Raiders hosted the Redmen of Sisseton Friday night. It was win number two on the season for the Raiders edging their opponent 14-0. The Raiders rolled up 281 total yards of offense on the night, while only allowing 69 yards on the defensive side of the ball. These young men are continually growing and becoming more confident in their positions. We still had some costly penalties, but they were effort penalties not lack-of-focus penalties.

The Wagner Volleyball team traveled to Tyndall on Saturday, September 17th to take part in the Cavalier Clash which is a sixteen-team tournament. The Lady Raiders came ready to play and went 6-0 in the tournament. The girls played with focus and great energy and were crowned champions. Wagner faced Gayville-Volin (25-19, 25-9), AC/DC (25-13, 25-9), Alcester Hudson (25=14, 25-14) in pool play. The Raiders then moved into bracket play to face Platte/Geddes (25-18, 25-20), Elk-Point Jefferson (25-15, 25-17), and then met Bon Homme (25-17, 25-22) in the championship.

The Wagner Red Raiders could not have asked for a better day to host their Cross Country Meet in Pickstown, SD. It was a beautiful day for a Cross Country Meet this past Monday, September 12 and it was a great day for running. The kids showed up to race, and race, they all did! There were some very exciting finishes.

Competing in the event were Matt Link (56th place) and Carter Smejkal (67th place). Competing at Lakeview will be a great benefit to Matt and Carter as the region competition will also be in Mitchell later this month. The boys continue to show improvement, and are becoming comfortable in competition.
