Funeral services will be 2 PM, Wednesday, February 1 at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be the hour prior to services.

Mildred Eva Canfield was born August 10, 1939 to Hermina (Buchholz) and George Canfield on the family farm southeast of Wagner. She was the seventh of seven children. Mildred passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the Scotland Good Samaritan Society.

Milly attended Rouse #5 country school through the eight grade. Milly married Paul Ramsdell on September 18, 1959 and together farmed and raised their family. Milly spent her entire life on the river bottom. Milly was a wonderful mother and homemaker. You could also find her milking cows, feeding bucket calves, raising chickens, gardening and haying in the alfalfa fields. She enjoyed country music, walking, visiting neighbors and had a love for horses.

Thankful for having shared her life are children: Douglas (Patty) Ramsdell of Sutherland, NE, Sandra (Darin O’Farrell) Ramsdell of Marvin, Debbie (Terry) Roth of Olivet, Clarence (Tammy) Ramsdell of Yankton and Terry (Julie) Ramsdell of Wagner; grandchildren: Kyle Ramsdell (Makenzi), Jaime (Sebastian) Cartes of Charlotte, NC; Alexcia (Wes Winbarger) of Pittsburgh, PA; Abby (Jeff) Ramsdell of Las Vegas, NV; Levi (Dakotah) Roth of Olivet, SD; Mariah (Tanner) Suess of Tripp; Sasha (Phil) Vruegdenhil of Parkston; Cheyanne Roth of Sioux Falls; Niki (Mark) Rethke of Milbank; Jennifer Hanton of Watertown; Brentley, Trasin and Draylin of Wagner; along with many great grandchildren; her sister Bess Houska of Yankton and her brother Ben Canfield of Spokane, WA.

Milly was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents, her sister Mary Bucholz and her brothers: Bob, Bill and Arthur Canfield.
