The 3rd graders in Avon received a visit from members of the Avon American Legion Auxiliary. They discussed the usefulness of the information contained in a dictionary and presented each student with a dictionary of their very own.

The Auxiliary has helped foster literacy and learning for our youth by taking part in the Dictionary Project for many years. Putting these dictionaries into the hands of the third graders gives them a tool to pursue their own curiosity and gain independence.

When you empower childrento find their own answers, you nurture the next generation of thinkers, creators, andleaders. Sometimes the most profound changes can begin with something as simple as a dictionary on a desk.
