10 Years Ago – 2014 Wagner Community School Oral Interpers that advanced to the state competition included Hailey Hilzendiger, Drue Soukup, Tavia Podhrasky, Nathan Kucera, Krista Dvorak, Hannah Fleming and Chloe Noteboom.

The Avon Chamber of Commerce will be holding its annual Kickoff to Christmas event on Saturday, November 30th. The day’s events begin with a Frozen Foot 5K. Participants are asked to sign up and pay the entrance fee of $20 (which gets you a t-shirt and treats) at 12:30 p.m.

10 Years Ago - 2014 Newly purchased Christmas lights by the Chamber of Commerce were put up on main street, just in time for the annual Parade of Lights. Amanda Reiff was named to the Great Plains All Conference Volleyball team; Randi Hento received Honorable Mention.

Charles Mix Electric Association of Lake Andes, SD is proud to announce that Mahpiya Irving has been chosen as a “Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week” by Dakota News Now. Mahpiya is a senior at Andes Central High School.

Hours at the library for the Thanksgiving holiday are as follows: Tues., Nov. 26th 12:30-5:00 Wed., Nov. 27th 1:00-5:00 Thurs. & Fri., Nov. 28th & 29th Closed Sat., Nov. 30th 1:00-5:00 The Library will be doing three activities for the Holiday Happenings in Lake Andes on December 6th and 7th.

20 Years Ago – 2004 Erica Gall, Tina Gau, Brandi Gau, and Katie Gall received All- Conference honors for the Lady Eagles Volleyball team. Work continued on the shelter project at the city swimming pool renovations.

Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on November 21 at the Post Home with 14 members and two guests present. The meeting was called to order by President Alyssa Mathis. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening prayer.

Wednesday, November 20th, was a raw, blustery day in Wagner, South Dakota. The Wagner Rotary Club members braved the high winds to make it to the club building. Dana Sanderson, Michele Juffer, and Jean Crowe were guests for the meeting.

Each year National Education Week is observed by the Wagner American Legion Auxiliary by donating cookies to the Wagner Community School. This year National Education Week was observed November 18-25.
