The Lady Raiders traveled to Alexandria last Tuesday night in girls basketball action to take on a Region 5 foe the Hanson Beavers. Wagner would jump out early to a 7-0 lead and post a 26-9 lead after the first quarter.

The Lady Raiders wrapped up LMVC conference play with the ACDC Thunder last Thursday night in girls basketball action. Wagner would dominate from the tip holding a 16-6 lead after the fifirst and then coast to a 57-12 victory.

Bon Homme/Avon wrestlers competed Saturday at the Tom Studelska Invitational in Wagner and earned the team title. Results from the tourney: 106 Asher Hellmann (29-7) placed 1st and scored 26.5 team points, Champ.

All seven girls placed at the Aberdeen Central Invitational on January 30: first-Britney Rueb-135; second-Harper Kracht-125, Hadlee Kracht-130, Hope Kemnitz-190; third-Tatum Palsma-100, seventh-Bailey Kemnitz-140, and eighthSydney Johnson-115.

The Avon 4th grade boys basketball team competed in the Bon Homme tournament this weekend. They beat MVP and Parkston to put them into the championship game. They made a last second shot to beat EPJ 24-23. It was quite a thriller and such a joy to watch these boys compete! Congratulations team!

The Avon boys basketball team hosted Freeman on Thursday, January 30, but came up short in a tough loss, falling 57–77. Avon was led by Dominic Doom and Zander Fathke, who each scored 18 points. Doom added 8 rebounds, an assist and a block, while Fathke contributed 2 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal.

The Avon boys basketball team faced St. Francis on Friday, January 31, at Dakota State and came away with a hard-fought 57–51 victory. Dominic Doom led the Pirates with 20 points, adding 7 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals.

The Avon Pirates traveled to Gregory on Thursday, January 29, and battled through overtime before coming up just short in a hard-fought 60–56 loss.

The Avon Lady Pirates traveled to Burke on Tuesday, January 27, and returned home with a convincing 59-35 victory. Rilyn Thury led the way with a strong all-around performance, pouring in 21 points to go along with 8 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals.
